Kelsey Review is published each Fall. Submissions are open from January 31-May 31. We respond no later than August 15. Please note: we currently publish only the contributions of those who live or work in New Jersey or are from the Philadelphia/Bucks County (PA) area. If you have questions regarding whether your work would be eligible for publication, please contact kelsey.review@mccc.edu.

We accept all submissions through our online submission system, Submittable, at https://kelseyreview.submittable.com/submit. We no longer accept submissions by postal mail or email. We welcome simultaneous submissions, but we ask that you please withdraw your submission (or send us a message through Submittable if it’s poetry or art) if your work has been accepted elsewhere. All rights are retained by the author. Kelsey Review remains available online after publication.

Genre Guidelines

Prose (Fiction, Nonfiction)

Length: Maximum of 3,500 words

Although we accept nonfiction work on any topic, we are especially interested in essays and articles about the people, history, businesses, educational institutions, artistic traditions and/or government of Mercer County and the surrounding area.

No multiple submissions, meaning you may submit only one prose piece. However, if you are submitting micro or flash prose, you may submit up to three pieces as long as the total word count is less than 1,000 words.

Poetry

Send no more than six pages (submit all poems in one Word document).

 Artwork & Photography

Upload as a jpg file, and multiple submissions are allowed.

Except for art, flash prose, and poetry, Kelsey Review generally only accepts one item per author. You may submit only in one genre, meaning you cannot submit poetry and photography or prose and photography.
